Privacy Policy
Effective date: June 2026 · Last updated: July 2026
StreamSave ("we", "our", "the extension") is a Chrome browser extension that captures media streams rendered in your browser. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, where it is stored, and your rights.
1. Data Stored Only On Your Device
This data never leaves your browser:
- Media URLs and page titles — detected locally to display the download list.
- UI preferences — theme and language, stored on your device.
- Anonymous device identifier — a random id generated on install, used to enforce the free-tier download cooldown and the per-account device limit. It is not tied to your real identity.
- Cached license/trial status and per-domain detection hints — cached locally to reduce repeated network calls.
- Geo-check cache — result of a one-time regional-availability lookup, cached locally for 24 hours.
2. Data Sent To and Stored On Our Server
Some features require sending limited data to our own backend (streamsave.youriahn.com), only when you actively use that feature:
- Free trial activation — your email address, a randomly-generated device identifier, and your IP address, so we can issue and later verify your 72‑hour trial and prevent repeated trial abuse.
- License verification — your license key and device identifier, sent to our server, which confirms it's valid (Payhip-issued keys are checked with Payhip; keys issued through our own PayPal checkout are checked against our records). We store the plan type (monthly/yearly/lifetime), the purchaser email, and the purchase date, so we can enforce the per-account device limit, calculate when a time-limited plan expires, and provide support if you contact us about your license.
- Purchase via PayPal direct checkout — for purchases made through our own PayPal checkout page, PayPal provides the order identifier and buyer email to our server so we can issue your license key. Payment card details are handled entirely by PayPal and never reach our server.
- Free-tier download gate — your device identifier and, if you've completed trial verification, your email — used only to enforce the 30-minute cooldown between free downloads.
- Error reports (optional) — only if you submit one: the page URL, media URL, error reason, your account tier, extension version, browser user agent, and diagnostic details about the failed detection/download. Your email is included only if you choose to provide it (needed if you want a reply).
This server-side data is used solely to operate the service (trial/license enforcement, abuse prevention, and fixing reported bugs). It is stored in a private database on our own server and is never sold, shared with advertisers, or used for marketing.
3. Who Can Access This Data
Server-side data is accessible only to the developer of StreamSave, through a password-protected admin panel, and only for the purposes above (service operation and support). We do not use third-party analytics or tracking SDKs inside the extension.
4. Third-Party Services
StreamSave interacts with the following third-party services:
- Payhip — payment processing and license key verification (EU/UK/Australia/New Zealand and general checkout). See Payhip Privacy Policy.
- PayPal — payment processing for our direct checkout (other regions). See PayPal Privacy Statement.
- ipapi.co — geolocation lookup (IP address only, no account required).
5. DRM and Copyright
StreamSave does not circumvent DRM (Digital Rights Management) protection. It only captures media that is already rendered and accessible in your browser. You agree to use StreamSave only for content you have the legal right to download.
6. YouTube
StreamSave does not support downloading from YouTube. YouTube's Terms of Service prohibit third-party downloading of its content.
7. Regional Availability
StreamSave is not available for purchase in Germany due to local regulations (§ 95a UrhG).
8. Data Retention
Locally stored data (download count, geo cache) can be cleared at any time by removing the extension from Chrome. Server-side data (trial email, license/device records, error reports) is kept only as long as needed to operate the service — for example, to prevent trial abuse or to support you if you contact us about a license — and can be deleted on request (see Contact below).
9. Your Rights
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of any personal data we hold about you (trial email, license device records, or error report contents) by contacting us at the email below. We will respond and act on verified requests within a reasonable time.
